Why local government
The public realm
My public contribution begins in Galatsi—a compact, densely populated municipality in the centre of the Athens urban area. It is a place where national policy, municipal capacity and everyday expectations meet at street level.
I entered local government because institutional quality is ultimately measured through lived experience. Responsiveness, clear processes and well-designed public services may sound procedural; to citizens, they determine whether government feels present, fair and useful.
Local government
Local government is where institutions are experienced in everyday life: in the street, the neighbourhood, the public space and the speed of a response. My work in Galatsi is grounded in that immediate relationship between a public decision and the person affected by it.
Implementation
As a former Deputy Mayor and now Municipal Councillor, I have seen how good intentions meet budgets, procurement rules, administrative capacity and competing priorities. That experience shapes a practical approach to reform: ambitious in direction, disciplined in execution.
European perspective
Through European local-government networks, I contribute the perspective of a dense urban municipality to discussions on better regulation, public-sector innovation and the implementation of European policy at local level.
From Galatsi to Europe
Public institutions should be judged by a simple standard: whether they make everyday life work better for the people they serve.
